FAQ

What insurance rate should I use?

Typically 10.5%–22.5% depending on your city and housing-fund rate (pension 8%, medical 2%, unemployment 0.5%, housing fund 5%–12%). Use the figure on your pay slip.

Why is net much lower than gross?

Social insurance and income tax are withheld before pay, so net is noticeably lower than gross.

How is the 5,000 threshold applied?

Gross salary minus insurance, then minus the 5,000 monthly threshold gives taxable income, which the monthly tax brackets turn into tax.

What is net on a 10,000 gross?

At a common 10.5% insurance rate with no extra deductions, net on 10,000 gross is a bit over 8,000/month; it varies by rate and city.

How is a 13th-month bonus handled?

Year-end bonuses follow a separate tax rule; this tool models monthly salary. For the bonus, use the separate-calculation logic in the income tax tool.

Does a higher housing-fund rate hurt take-home?

A higher rate cuts take-home more, but the money (matched by your employer) stays in your housing savings — effectively forced saving.
