PNG to WebP

Keep transparency while cutting PNG size by half or more

Privacy: this tool runs entirely in your browser — files are never uploaded, and data is gone when you close the page.

How to use

  1. Select or drop PNG images (screenshots, transparent art, design exports).
  2. Adjust the quality slider; the alpha channel is preserved automatically.
  3. Click "Convert all & download" and compare before/after sizes.

FAQ

Is the transparent background kept?

Yes. WebP natively supports alpha transparency — transparent areas stay transparent.

Is PNG to WebP lossy or lossless?

This tool uses adjustable lossy encoding by default; at 85+ it is visually lossless. For strict pixel-perfect needs, push the slider to maximum.

Will text in screenshots get blurry?

At quality 85–95 screen text stays sharp; for dense text screenshots use 90 or higher.

About this PNG to WebP

PNG is the go-to format for screenshots, icons and transparent artwork, but lossless compression comes at a cost: big files. WebP also supports an alpha channel while typically weighing just 30%–50% of the PNG at near-identical quality — the highest-value optimization for web icons, buttons and logos. Conversion happens entirely in your browser; originals are never uploaded.
